Mame32k and Direct Connecting Netplay

Why has no one ever tried to create and implement a Zsnes 1.36-style netplay code (i.e. direct-connect to opponent) to MAME?

As far as I can tell in Zsnes, netplay has little to no lag whatsoever, since it's one player directly connecting to another.

If they can do it, I don't see why MAME emulators can't. I like Kaillera, but at times, it's a little laggy, to be honest.

Because...there is no point?

Server-client architecture is probably the best thing about kaillera. To make it like zbattle ...or even better or to just play directly, it would be like hosting a kaillera server on your local machine and get others to connect.

Forwarding ports and such is more troublesome than connecting to a ready-made server...


PS, setting up your own for a quick lan game takes two seconds. - The Place for Da Roms!
